Christmas Tree 2007

Yesterday we got Ethan all bundled up in his warmest winter clothes (see above) and braved the elements for the annual Roberts Family Christmas Tree Hunt. We met up with Penny’s parents at the Crane Neck Tree Farm in West Newbury and proceeded to begin The Hunt.

There was snow on the ground (yay!) and a definite nip in the air. It took us about an hour of walking past acres and acres of trees, but we finally found The Perfect Tree.

Based on past experiences, my new rule this year was that the tree was to be no taller than Penny, so of course she wore a pointy hat that added an extra foot to her height. But no matter! We selected our tree, and then Penny’s dad cut it down (I’m still on the disabled list because of the surgery) and Penny dragged it on a sled (she’s very sturdy) until we got to the tractor-drawn wagon. There we piled the tree into the back and hitched a ride to the front of the farm.

We got home in time to hang the Christmas Star on the garage, eat some Christmas cookies and homemade chili, light a fire in the fireplace, and watch the Patriots annihilate the Steelers. All in all, a perfect day.
